Talking My first tattoo

I just got my first tattoo last week. I have been searching the net for a cool tattoo forum site and this site seems to fit the bill I figured i'd post a picture, let me know what you think whether good or bad. Ths picture was taken 24 hours later. It has since scabbed up but thats pretty much done, now its gotta finish healing. Thanks for looking.

Mike

I like it - it is done in a similar style to my ink. Just as a heads-up, the flame colors are ones that tend to fade rather quickly, so expect to need a touch-up in a couple years. It is perfectly normal for that to occur, so don't think anything is wrong with it. :)

And welcome to the forum!

Thanks. I'm trying to take care of it as best I can. I don't want it to fade away I take it shading won't fade or won't fade as much? What is the best way to maintain my tattoo even after its finished healing? I know I have to put sunblock on it when i'm in the sun, but are there any other things I can do?

No worries, your tattoo is not going to fade away! It's just that reds and yellows tend to fade a little in a shorter amount of time than colors like black or dark blue. All tattoos fade over time - the colors just need a little boost every so often. Nothing to get worried about.I didn't mean to scare you - just giving you a bit of info on what to expect in the future. Also, most tattoos need a touch-up right afer they heal because the body doesn't always retain as much color as we'd like. So if it looks a little dull after it heals, this is normal, and your tattoo artist should touch it up for you for free. Most of them do.

Since yours is healing, I advise you to make sure your tattoo is not exposed to direct sunlight until it is healed. Also, do not let a direct pressurized shower spray hit it. I would recommend washing it with a warm cloth and antibacterial soap, and patting it dry with a towel. Do not rub it, ir pick at the scabbing bits of skin. And after it is washed, apply a tiny amount of Tattoo Goo, or Bacitracin, or whatever you are using - only enough to JUST cover it. Also, do not put more on without washing the tattoo - it will just build up and dry on top of the tattoo.

After it is healed, make sure to put sun screen on it (as you mentioned) when it will be exposed, and regularly use a gentle lotion like Lubriderm on it a few times a day. It should help keep your ink brighter, longer. :)

Welcome to the board, thanks for sharing your tattoo, it looks great! Care to share who did it?

Also I'd be interested in hearing how you found the board.

Thanks!

He said use a&d ointment for the first 2 days then switch to curel lotion. He said use as needed so I just throw it on ever few hours.

What do you mean? Are you asking if i'm gonna add more skulls to this? I might add a snake wrapping around this arm and biting into my chest. The snake would be shade except where its biting into my skin i'd have some red for the blood.

I wanna do a grim reaper in a graveyard on my left arm I found this cool picture online (a picture, not someone elses tattoo) that gave me the idea.

Thanks for the compliments!
