Default Photorealistic tattoo

Hello,
i am wanting to get my first tattoo, but i would really like a photorealistic tattoo done to my own design, i have ideas and i am just trying to get them down on paper, however i dont know what the limitations are of photorealistic tattoo are,

here is what i have come up with so far, it is by no means finished or finalised but would some thing like this be at all possible?

if so which tattoo artist should i go to? any ideas, i live in north wales

cheers

My first guess would be to find someone good at portrait tattoos. If they can do a good portrait they should be somewhat good at photorealism (on the other hand, I can tell you I can paint great realistic portraits but there is no way I can paint a realistic building.)

Is that a map? ::groan:: small details (like the itty-bitty words you'd find on a map) don't age well. You'd be paying a lot of money for just a little bit of tattoo. Where on your body is this tattoo going? Does the design work with the anatomy? If this is to be a back piece ::ahem:: may I suggest removing the border? Your tattooist can probably add cooler pictures to your work to make the tattoo, as a whole, flow well with your body.

For work this size, ask to see portfolios. Ask if the artist has ever competed and if so has he or she won any awards. This isn't just your body, this is art. It deserves the labor of good homework and research.

I agree, remove the "frame", or change it somehow. it's to bold and dark and will only divert the eye from the actual art of the piece.
Look at portfolios. If someone is good at tattooing portraits, they are going to be proud to show it off. You will know that special someone when you see thier work. Nice unique piece. good luck.
